ETC / RX - Anti-diabetics - Glimid 2, 4
Glimepiride: 2 mg, 4 mg
Per each film coated tablet.
Non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type II diabetes).
ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE:
Adults: initially, 1-2 mg once daily, taken before breakfast or first main meal. The dose can be increased gradually at interval of 1-2 weeks and according to the following dose step: 1mg-2 mg-3 mg-4 mg-5 mg-6 mg, with a maximum dose of 8 mg/ day).
Patients with risk factors for hypoglycemia may be started at 1mg once daily.
Children: consult a doctor.
Known allergy to sulfonamides and other sulfonylureas.
Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (type I diabetes).
Diabetes complicated by keto-acidosis, diabetic coma.
Severe hepatic dysfunction and renal failure.
Pregnancy and lactation.
WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:
Comply diet, medication, and exercise routines closely. Changing any of these things can effect your blood sugar levels.
Hypoglycemia, transient visual disorder, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rashes.
Hypoglycaemic effect of Glimepiride may increase with the concomitant administration of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, sulfonamide, anticoagulants, MAOIs, beta- blockers, pentoxifyline, chloramphenicol, chlofibrate, miconazol and alcohol.
