ETC / RX - Alimentary system drugs - Prazex 30


Lansoprazole 30 mg

For each capsule.


Gastric ulcer
Duodenal ulcer
Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome


Usually for adults: 1 capsule (30mg Lansoprazole) orally once a day before a meal.
Duodenal ulcer: 1 capsule/day for 4 weeks.
Gastric ulcer: 1 capsule/day for 8 weeks.
Reflux esophagitis: 1 capsule/day for 4-8 weeks.
Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: the starting dose for adults is 60 mg daily, and the dose is adjusted based on response. Doses up to 180 mg have been used.


Known hypersensitivity to any components of this product.


In case of gastric ulcer, the possibility of malignancy should be excluded, as treatment with Lansoprazole may delay diagnosis by alleviating symptoms.

Lansoprazole should be taken with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. No dose adjustment is required in the presence of  renal failure, including patients on dialysis
Elderly patients: No dose adjustment is neccessary
Use in pregnancy: The use of Lansoprazole is not recommended
Use in lactation: Breastfeeding should be discontinued if the use of Lansoprazole is considered essential.
Use in children: The safety of Lansoprazole in children has not been established.


Nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, dizziness, headache and increased hepatic enzymes.


Antacids (aluminium or magnesium hydroxides) may reduce the bioavailability of Lansoprazole and should be administered at 2 hours interval from Lansoprazole.
Absorption of Lansoprazole was delayed and the bioavailability was reduced, when administered concomitantly with Sucralfate.
The clearance of Theophylline is increased when administered concomitantly with Lansoprazole
